What is my IP address?

This page shows the public IP address that websites see when you visit them, and the country it is registered to. Behind a home router, a VPN or a proxy, that address belongs to the router, the VPN server or the proxy rather than to your computer. To see which address a proxy gives you, send a request through it: the cURL command on this page asks the same endpoint, and the answer is the proxy's exit IP. The endpoint is public and needs no account.

Your public IP address

The page asks RoProxy's API which address your request came from. The address is not sent to analytics.

Check a proxy's exit IP

Send the same request through the proxy and the answer is the address websites see through it. Replace the placeholders with the proxy's details.

cURL through a proxy
curl -x 'http://GATEWAY_HOST:HTTP_PORT' --proxy-user 'USERNAME:PASSWORD' 'https://backend-api.ro-proxy.com/api/ip'

What the result tells you

  • Your public address, not your local one

Addresses such as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x belong to your local network and never reach a website. The address shown here is the one on the internet side of your connection.

  • The country is an estimate

It comes from Cloudflare's location data for the address and names where the network that owns it operates. Mobile networks, VPNs and proxies often place an address somewhere other than where you are.

  • IPv4 or IPv6

When your connection has IPv6, browsers usually prefer it, so this page can show an IPv6 address while a tool that only speaks IPv4 is seen with another one.

Check the exit IP of a RoProxy session

Each command prints, as JSON, the address the website sees through the session. A sticky session keeps the same address; a rotating one shows a new address after it rotates.

curl -x 'http://GATEWAY_HOST:HTTP_PORT' --proxy-user 'USERNAME:PASSWORD' 'https://backend-api.ro-proxy.com/api/ip'
The endpoint, https://backend-api.ro-proxy.com/api/ip, answers anyone with the caller's address and, when known, its country. It works the same way for proxies from other providers.

Frequently asked questions

Why is this address different from the one in my network settings?

Your computer has a local address on your home or office network. The router replaces it with the network's public address on the way out, and that public address is what websites, and this page, see.

Does this page keep my IP address?

The page itself keeps nothing, and the address is not sent to analytics. RoProxy's API logs requests with their address, as most web servers do.

Why does the country look wrong?

The country is an estimate from Cloudflare's data about who operates the address. Mobile carriers, VPNs and proxies often route traffic through another city or country.

Can I call the endpoint from my own scripts?

Yes. GET https://backend-api.ro-proxy.com/api/ip returns JSON with ip and, when known, country. It needs no key, so it also fits a health check that runs through a proxy.

How do I check a proxy from another provider?

Run the same cURL command with that proxy's host, port, username and password. Any HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy works; the answer is the address it exits from.
